The Port Angeles Main Library's parking lots and sidewalks are being repaired and upgraded. The Accessible Pathways Project is an exciting effort to make the library safer and more accessible for all patrons. Project improvements include:
- Repair failing parking lots and improve drainage
- Repair sidewalks to main entrance and adjust slope to meet ADA requirements
- Add sidewalks to emergency exits
- Change landscaping for safe pathways
The library will remain open regular hours during construction. You may hear a bit more noise than usual or notice some temporary changes to parking and how you enter the building. Accessible parking is available in the east parking lot, entered from Peabody St.
The project is grant funded by the Department of Commerce and matched by timber revenue (not by the recent levy). The need for repairs was first identified in 2020.
Construction is expected to be completed in early July. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this important project.
